Common TCP/UDP Ports
Look up the most used network ports (HTTP, HTTPS, SSH, DNS, games, VPN) and what each one is for.
What ports are for
An IP address identifies the device; the port identifies the service inside it. When you open a website, your browser talks to port 443 (HTTPS) of the server. To open a game, server or camera on your router, you set up port forwarding, pointing the right port to the device's IP on the local network.
TCP is connection-oriented and reliable (websites, email, transfers). UDP is faster and without delivery guarantee (games, live streaming, voice calls). Some services use both.
